Rubella virus belongs to togavirus group of arthropod mediated viruses, which is the pathogenic virus of rubella. T.h.weller, f.a.neva (1962) and p.d.parkman et al. (1962) were separated from the throat washing liquid of rubella patients. The virus particles are polymorphic, 50-85 nm, and coated. The particle contains a molecular weight of 2.6-4.0 × 106 rna (infectious nucleic acid). Ether and 0.1% deoxycholate can passivate it and weaken it in heat.

1. The IgG and lgM antibodies of rubella virus are positive, or the IgG antibody titer is ≥ 1:512, indicating the recent infection of rubella virus.
2. The IgG and IgM antibodies of rubella virus were negative, indicating that there was no rubella virus infection.
3. The IgG antibody titer of rubella virus was less than 1:512, and the IgM antibody was negative, indicating a history of infection.
4. In addition, re infection with rubella virus is not easy to detect because only a short period of IgM antibody appears or the level is very low. Therefore, the titer of rubella virus IgG antibody is more than 4 times higher in the double sera, so whether the lgM antibody is positive or not is an indicator of recent rubella virus infection.
